USC Elections

Tomorrow will be my third time to vote in the UP Diliman USC and ESC elections. Its kinda surprising that this year’s election is about to end, cleaner than the first two I have experienced.

On 2006, I voted for Chesa Baltazar and Isa Artajo as standard bearers. Both lost. I supported all Alyansa councilors who ran for office and some STAND-UP councilors. Unfortunately, only six won out of the twelve I voted. The elections, then, was kind of predictable. Shan Abdulwahid, the frontrunner for the Chair position won along with a surprising result in the Vice-Chair position with Viktor Fontanilla winning. That time, I didn’t care about ESC (Engineering Student Council) Elections. I checked all the marks I could just to experience the voting.

Last year, I became quite active in campaigning for the party I liked better. I chose to vote straight Alyansa. I have faith in their idealisms and concrete and tangible outputs. Last year’s elections was bloody dirty. Statements and counter-statements slipped under my room door whenever I wake up. Fraternity violence pictures threatened Third Bagro’s chances but still he won. The vice-chairperson seat was quite a battle. With Airah Cadiogan and Titus Tan being the frontrunners, and Marian Panganiban being the silent but excellent darkhorse. In the end, Airah Cadiogan’s eloquence made her win. Out of the 12 councilors, only five won. I voted for Bryan Castillo and Rachell Cabrera for Engineering Representative. This is also the first time that I involved myself in the ESC elections by trying to scrutinize which of the two parties, PRIME and ARISE, is better and which is the set of better leaders. I chose PRIME.

This year, I have finally made up my mind. My votes are in italics. The percentage beside the candidates is my take on their chances of winning.
